Naoya Hida, a brand founded by Mr.Hida himself in 2018 after working in the watch industry for a long time. His first work under his own name was the Type 1B in 2019. This specific example is the Type 1D, which was produced in 2023. The watch has a fantastic blend of vintage and modern: 37mm case size, with 9.8mm thickness is a perfect modern proportion. The case is made from 904L stainless steel; same material as Rolex’s stainless-steel cases. Rugged case, nice blend of polished and brushed finish with inch perfect case construction makes the watch look extremely elegant. Speaking of elegance, the dial has a unique silver colour made of German silver. The Breguet numerals are hand engraved to perfection as well as very sharp looking leaf hands. The heart of the watch is beating through cal.3019ss, which is a heavily modified Valjoux 7750 movement. This Type 1D just might be the perfect modern Calatrava currently in production.
