Weather in the last few weeks has definitely been an introduction to Summer. Temperature consistently reaches over 30 degrees celsius, sunsets at 10pm; it’s great overall. Summer also does mean watch scenes are a little slower. People are off on holidays, auction season ending, overall people are more on the beach than on their desk. That has not stopped me from hunting for a few pieces. I thought with the heat, it would only be nice to have a few skeletonised pieces to psychologically feel fresh since you can see through the movement. So I got myself what has been one of my favorite watches to own for a long time: a Breguet Classique Tourbillon ref.3355 in platinum. The Daniel Roth DNA with a fully skeletonised, hand engraved movement. I think I am not too far off my saying that this is a piece of art. Decided to put the 3355 next to the 5907 to see how drastically different the 2 Breguets can be, but still breathing that same DNA.
Next piece of art I managed to obtain has a very similar design language; skeletonised Daniel Aubert pocket watch in 18K white gold. As I am getting to study a bit more about Daniel Aubert, I am slowly developing a temptation to collect the work of Daniel Aubert.
Had a weekend off in the Engadin, a place where I called home for several years of my teenage life. I have to say, I have been on a little break with writing articles, and I don’t want to blame the schedule, but a lot has been happening over the last month or so. Writing is something I genuinely love to do as I believe we need more independent journalism rather than paid articles, so I hope to continue again as I will have a bit more time in hand with turning myself off for a fews weeks in terms of watches.
Overall another great week. Set small goals, knocked them off, time to set more.
