In Person: Breguet Classique ref.3330

I am going to start off by saying this: I am absolutely in love with vintage/neo-vintage Breguets so I might be highly biased about this 3330. But this 3330 Breguet rightfully has all the reasons to compliment. Featuring Day, Date, as well as Moonphase function, this dial design is based on Breguet’s pocket watch ref.3833 from the 1800s.

I’ve got too many good things to say about this guy right here. Since the acquisition, I spend too much time staring at the Clos de Paris and Grain D’Orge patterned Guilloché dial; more than I would like to admit. In terms of the dial layout, the placement of 3 sub registers: very much inspired by the ref.3833 pocket watch is laid out to perfection. They kind of messed it up with the newest ref.7337 but this is a chef’s kiss. And of course, the size: it is just too good. 35.5mm diameter with 6.8mm thickness it will slide underneath just about any cuffs.

The significance that Abraham Louis Breguet had in the industry is very much relevant to this day, with the invention of the Tourbillon, Breguet overcoil, engine turned dial (Guilloché) and plenty more. In my opinion Breguet had their new "peak" when Daniel Roth came to the brand after his time at Audemars Piguet and created some of the best pieces the brand has produced after the rebirth of the brand under Jacques and Pierre Chaumet. This 3330, although not released during the Daniel Roth era of Breguet, still has all the DNA from that golden age of Breguet. Beautiful coin edge case, 2 different types of Guilloché pattern, 36mm dimension with only 6.8mm in thickness, it is the dictionary type of proportion for classic dress watches. Although Breguet still produces the successor of this design with the reference 7337, it has a fatter 39mm case size as well as unproportionate dial construction which unfortunately seems to be the case for a lot of big brands. But this. This hits all tingling spots for someone who loves classical, proportionate neo-vintage pieces. The case is still in strong condition with visible hallmarks, I am gutted and pleased to offer this piece to the next caretaker.
